Abul Kasem Khan​

Chairperson

BUILD

Abul Kasem Khan was appointed as the Chairperson of BUILD for the tenure of 2025. Abul Kasem Khan took responsibility for the chairpersonship as per the decision of the trustee board following the concerned articles of the deed of trust of BUILD. Khan is a trustee board member nominated by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), vice chairman of A. K. Khan & Company Limited and managing director of A. K. Khan Telecom Limited.

Abul Kasem Khan was the Chairperson of BUILD for the year 2020-21. He was President of DCCI in 2010, 2017 and 2018.  He is also a Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund (BICF) member. He was also a Director in Titas Gas & Distribution Co. Ltd (TGDCL), TM Bangladesh Ltd (AKTEL) and Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd (DSE). He was also a Member of NCMID (National Committee for Monitoring Implementation of Doing Business Reforms) in 2018.

Kamran T. Rahman

President

MCCI

Kamran Tanvirur Rahman is the President of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI) for 2024. He is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of Kapna Tea Company Limited and Pubali Jute Mills Limited, and also serves as the Bangladesh Tea Association (BTA) Chairman.

An Independent Director of Advanced Chemical Industries Limited (ACI) and its subsidiaries, Kamran T. Rahman, has held significant roles within MCCI, previously serving as the Senior Vice-President and Vice-President. Additionally, he served as the President of the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF). With a global perspective, Rahman contributed as a member (Employers’ Group) of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland, during the terms 2009-2012, 2012-2014, and 2014-2017. His extensive experience and leadership roles underline his commitment to local and international business environments.

Taskeen Ahmed

Taskeen Ahmed is a visionary business leader whose entrepreneurial spirit has driven growth and diversification at Ifad Group, a prominent Bangladeshi conglomerate in the automotive, food processing, and consumer goods sectors. As Vice Chairman, he has transformed Ifad into one of Bangladesh’s industrial leaders through innovative strategies and pioneering initiatives, particularly within the automotive market.

Since joining Ifad Group in 1999, he has scaled vehicle sales tenfold, established Bangladesh’s largest commercial vehicle assembly facility, and introduced Royal Enfield motorcycles to the country in 2024. Taskeen also leads multiple subsidiaries, including Ifad Multi Products Limited and Ifad Information and Technology Limited. Beyond corporate contributions, he has promoted regional economic collaboration through roles such as President of the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI). His forward-thinking leadership sets a benchmark for business excellence in Bangladesh.

Mohammed Amirul Haque

Mohammed Amirul Haque is the Founder, Managing Director and CEO of Seacom Group, a diversified Bangladeshi conglomerate with interests spanning shipping, logistics, commodity trading, energy, manufacturing, agriculture and real estate. Since 1984, he has led the Group’s strategic growth, overseeing more than 5,000 employees across multiple industrial operations nationwide. He is also the Founder and Managing Director of Premier Cement Mills PLC, where he has driven operational excellence and corporate governance. A recognised business leader, he serves as President of the LPG Operators Association of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Cement Manufacturers Association. He has received numerous national awards, including Commercially Important Person (CIP) status, and actively supports education, vocational training and charitable initiatives through the Roknoor Foundation.

Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury

Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury is a distinguished business leader, diplomat and education patron based in Chattogram, Bangladesh. With extensive interests spanning shipping, readymade garments, packaging, real estate and insurance, he serves as Managing Director of Chittagong Social Business Centre Ltd. and Progoti Shipping (BD) Ltd., and as Director of several leading companies. A former President of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), he has also held key positions at the FBCCI, BGMEA, and the Chittagong Stock Exchange. As Honorary Consul of Thailand in Chattogram for nearly two decades, he has strengthened bilateral trade and received Thailand’s highest royal honour. He also plays an active role in the governance of leading higher education institutions in Bangladesh.

Md Saiful Islam

Md Saiful Islam was the president of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI) for the year 2023 and Trustee Board Member of BUILD in 2022-23. He is a leading entrepreneur and commercially important person since 1998, is now serving as managing director of Picard Bangladesh.Md. Saiful Islam is one of the leading businessmen/industrialists in the country having 35 years of business experience in various fields like Shipbuilding, leathergoods manufacturing, dredging and hospitality etc. He has started his business carrier in 1986 in shipping sector such as Ship-Chartering, Ship-owning, Ship-repair etc. With his intellectual ideas and hardworking he has spread his business wings to some other sectors like leather goods. In 1997, he established joint venture company (namely, PICARD Bangladesh Ltd.) in conjunction with PICARD Lederwaren GmbH Co. & KG, Germany which manufactures/exports leathergoods and getting Export Trophy for every year.

Farooq Ahmed

Mr Farooq Ahmed is currently the Secretary General of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Dhaka. He is also currently serving Bangladesh Employers Federation (BEF) as the Secretary General.

A. K. M. Asaduzzaman Patwary

Acting Secretary General

DCCI

Dr A. K. M. Asaduzzaman Patwary is the acting Secretary General of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). With nearly two decades of academic and professional research expertise, his focus spans macroeconomic topics, private sector development, and foreign trade. He has held key roles such as Executive Secretary for DCCI’s Research and Development and Policy Advocacy Department, Head of Research at the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), and Deputy Secretary of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB). Academically, Dr Patwary earned a PhD in Economics in Bangladesh in 2024 and completed postgraduate studies in management consultancy and international business at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC), UK.

He also has extensive experience lecturing in the UK and Bangladesh, contributing to trade analyses and articles in international journals. Dr Patwary has attended over 150 seminars and workshops on regional connectivity and WTO-related matters. He is a prolific writer and has authored numerous publications, solidifying his expertise in economic affairs and private sector innovation.

Golam Mostofa Kamal

Golam Mostofa Kamal is Secretary of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), bringing nearly three decades of experience in trade promotion, manufacturing, marketing and corporate management. He began his career after completing an MBA in Marketing from IBA, University of Dhaka, and has held senior leadership positions across the apparel, manufacturing and packaging sectors. His expertise spans international trade, policy advocacy, organisational development, capacity building, market strategy and research. Kamal has led studies on trade facilitation, VAT automation and regional economic cooperation, while contributing to initiatives involving the World Bank and other international organisations. He has also participated extensively in professional training programmes at home and abroad, reinforcing his strategic leadership in business and commerce.

Ferdaus Ara Begum

Mrs Ferdaus Ara Begum is presently working as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BUILD. She has served as the Secretary of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) — a leading and reputed Chamber in the country as well as acted as the head of the DCCI Research Cell for several years. She also worked as Executive Director of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry and gathered experiences working with SAARC countries.
